Remembering former member Kim Seber 1st AC who died recently.

Although not all of you would have worked with Kim, he was a legend in the drama world and worked on some groundbreaking British films too - Leon the Pig Farmer, Beautiful Thing, Tears Before Bedtime, The Way We Live Now, The Song of Lunch and the award winning State of Play.

He hadn’t been well for a while and had a very clear idea that after his passing, there would be no fuss. Which means there are no plans for a funeral or memorial – very Kim.

Kim will be missed both by his family and colleagues as someone who had a sparkling sense of humour and great pride in his work.

DOP PETER BERGLUND GBCT - "D.O.A" AT FORT LAUDERDALE FILM FESTIVAL

Houndstooth Films announces that D.O.A., starring John Doe, Matt Pinfield, John Byner, and Lucinda Jenney will have its world premiere screening at the 37th Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival this Friday November 11th at 7:30 p.m. at the Savor Cinema in Ft. Lauderdale. Members of the cast and crew will be in attendance.

John Doe stars as Frank Bigelow, a private detective who begins a routine assignment for a wealthy socialite only to discover that he’s been fatally poisoned; with only days to live, he must unwind a tangle of conspiracies to figure out who “killed” him and why. The fast-paced thriller, directed by Kurt St. Thomas and written by Nicholas Griffin, is a loose remake of the classic 1950 film noir. St. Thomas has been making independent features and music videos for over 20 years.

The movie was shot entirely in St. Augustine, Florida and features many of the town’s historic buildings dating from the 19th century. The story is set in the late 1940’s and was filmed in black-and-white by cinematographer Peter Berglund. The filmmakers, including production designer Bonnie Druckenmiller, meticulously recreated the period (utilizing a small fleet of vintage cars) to evoke the mood of sun-drenched postwar Florida. Los Angeles-based composer Jaimee Jimin Park composed a lush and ominous orchestral score in the spirit of Bernard Herrmann and Jerry Goldsmith.

MISSION DIGITAL AND SCREENSKILLS RECENTLY LAUNCHED THEIR DIT TRAINING INITIATIVE

There are a couple of things they have asked for.  This is a message from the Project Manager, Ingrid Civet:

“We're still filming some content and I was wondering if you knew of anyone who may be interested in doing an industry testimonial about their relationship with a DIT or if a DIT wants to talk a bit about their journey.

We're looking to do some filming at Sony in Pinewood on the 7th, 9th and 10th November.

I also wanted to reach out as we're starting to prepare for the more in person training for January.  James will be one of the people teaching but I would love to have someone else there too to go through rigs etc...

Ideally it would be great to have an independent freelancer so that the candidates have both perspective.  Do you think anyone you know may be interested?

I have budget for anyone who will be joining us so that they can get paid for their time.”
To contact Ingrid, please email her: ingrid@missiondigital.co.uk
